When you learn to drive, your instructor will teach you more than how to operate the car. Being a good driver means being able to drive safely and with confidence, in all conditions.

There are some types of driving that you may not get an opportunity to practice before you pass your driving test, though. This is where Pass Plus comes in.

What is Pass Plus?

Pass Plus is a course of six driving sessions for people who have recently passed their driving test. It can be taken at any time, but it’s mostly aimed at new drivers. It’s designed to broaden your motoring knowledge and experience whilst accompanied by an expert driving instructor. 

What do you do on a Pass Plus course?

The Pass Plus course is split into six modules, which cover a range of driving disciplines and conditions. It includes driving:

• In town
• In all weathers, some of which might be taught as a theory session, depending on the season!
• On rural roads
• At night, which may also be covered as a theory session.
• On dual carriageways
• On motorways, though learner drivers are already permitted to drive on motorways whilst accompanied by our Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs) 
• Hazels Motorschool have also added the Mersey Tunnels into the Pass Plus syllabus

Is there a test after Pass Plus?

Unlike regular driving lessons, there is no test at the end of the Pass Plus course. Instead, drivers are assessed throughout the course in order to pass and receive their certificate.

For those who become anxious under exam or test conditions, be reassured that you’re likely to find Pass Plus less stressful!

Mastering a range of driving skills with the help of a certified instructor will set you up for a lifetime of safe driving. You’ll be better prepared to approach challenging driving with experience and knowledge. Some car insurers will also give you a Pass Plus discount, if you provide your Pass Plus certificate!
